How EFCC Boss, Magu Told UK Not to Give Me Visa - Patience Jonathan Reveals

The immediate past First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, has opened up on how she was denied UK visa on the instruction of Ibrahim Magu. Patience Jonathan Mrs Patience Jonathan, Nigeria's ex First Lady, said the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr Ibrahim Magu, wrote a letter to the British High Commission in Nigeria, asking the British Government not to issue her with a visa. According to Punch Metro, Patience said this in a petition written by her lawyers, Granville Abibo (SAN) & Co. which was addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara. Patience said the British Government subsequently investigated her and found her not wanting and thereafter issued her with a visa. The petition, which was signed by G.I. Court strikes out suit seeking sack of Magu, Lawal

A Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday struck out a suit seeking to compel President Muhammadu Buhari to sack acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, and suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, David Lawal. The court’s decision was informed by a change of mind by the plaintiffs – Save Nigeria Group (SNG) and Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International (KHRFI) – whose lawyer, Kingdom Okeke, applied to withdraw the cases. The groups filed the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/15/1072/16 on December 29, 2015, in the wake of the corruption allegations levelled by the Senate against Lawal and Magu. Yesterday, Okeke applied orally for the withdrawal of the case on the ground that his client had reconsidered their position on the matter in public interest. FG To Publish Names of Officials Who Stole From The Treasury- AGF

Nigeria is braced for a major political shake-up after the government vowed to name and shame leaders it claims have looted billions of dollars from the treasury. Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami, said it was poised to publish the names of those, past and present, who siphoned state cash, in response to a court order Wednesday. Malawi, disclosed that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government totally agrees with the ruling of the court and hence, will carry out the order as long as it does not amount to violation of the rules of the court. The judgement followed a Freedom of Information suit number: FHC/CS/964/2016 brought by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) against the Federal Government. According to New Telegraph, the suspect identified as Yusuf Aliu made the confession yesterday night when he was paraded alongside others at the state Police Command Headquarters in Osogbo. The police said the three men involved in the murder wanted to use the student for money ritual. Abdulrofiu said that they hit Shonibare with a pestle on the head and later butchered him.
